Tessa (Niger)

Tessa is a rural municipality in the department of Dosso in Niger.

Geography

Tessa is the major landscape Sudan. The neighboring municipalities are Goroubankassam in the north, Karguibangou in the east, the south and Dioundiou Farey in the West. The municipality is divided into 34 administrative villages, four traditional villages, hamlets and four 16 stock. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Tessa.

History

Tessa was founded by Zarma. In 1900, the ruler of Tessa subdued the French, however, refused to accept the supremacy of the Zarmakoye of Dosso. However, Tessa was a few years later integrated into the Canton Dosso. The rural municipality Tessa was spun off in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform back from the Canton Dosso.

Population

At the 2001 census, Tessa had 19,734 inhabitants. For the year 2010 26.398 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

Tessa is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture. Due to the north of the municipal territory, the administrative village Tourobon, the National Road 1, which here is part of the international highway Dakar - N'Djamena - Highway runs.
