Tetsuo Sakurai

Tetsuo Sakurai (Japanese樱井(桜 井)哲夫, Tetsuo Sakurai, born November 13, 1957 in the prefecture of Tokyo) is a Japanese bassist.

Life

He started playing bass 13 years. 1976 to 1989 he was a member of jazz fusion band Casiopea and 1990-1998 the duo Jimsaku with Akira Jimbo. In all, he published 37 albums together with Casiopea, Jimsaku alone and three instructional videos. Currently, he composes and plays his own music and occurs as a solo artist on along with guest musicians. His third solo album TLM20 (2000) he took to live together with Issei Noro and Minoru Mukaiya of Casiopea. On drums is Akira Jimbo and hear from dimension on saxophone Kazuki Katsuta. His fourth solo album Gentle Hearts (2001), he recorded with Greg Howe and Dennis Chambers. His fifth solo album Cartas do Brasil (2003) he took in Rio de Janeiro, among others together with Djavan, Ican Lins and Rosa Passos on. In 2004 he toured with Gred Howe and Dennis Chambers. A live recording was released a year later on DVD.
