Tevfik Kış

Tevfik Kis ( born August 10, 1934 in Çorum ) is a former Turkish wrestler.

His Ringer talent was not discovered until the military service. After his military service he was presented to the county 's sporting director, whereupon he gave him the then national coach. At the International Balkan Championship of 1959 in Istanbul he finished in second place in the Greco-Roman (87 kg). The following year, 1960 at the Olympic Games in Rome, he won the gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling (87 kg). Tevfik Kis was in the next few years the world twice and one time European champion and in 1968 heard with the rings on. He was coach and later President of the Turkish Ring Sport Association. In the early 1980s he founded with friends from the sports field, a foundation for the wrestling sport whose chairmanship he leads.

Tevfik Kish, the father of two children, lives as a businessman and restaurant owner in Ankara. For his contributions to the sport wrestler he was taken in September 2011 in the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame.
