The Best Man (1999 film)

. The Best Man - Wedding with obstacles ( Original title: The Best Man) is an American comedy film from 1999 directed by Malcolm D. Lee, who also wrote the screenplay. 2013 originated with The Best Man Holiday a sequel.

Action

The debuting writer Harper Stewart, whose novel Unfinished Business is to be published shortly, lives in Chicago. Stewart travels to New York City, where his friend Lance Sullivan to marry. There he meets his old college friends. Stewart's current girlfriend Robin will come later, but still appear in time for the wedding.

A college friend of Stewart and Sullivan, Jordan Armstrong, gets a preliminary copy of the still unpublished novel in her hands and tries to get an exclusive interview for publication. It recognizes the fact real people, that is, Stewart, Sullivan and his fiancée Mia Once Sullivan learns that his fiancée and his best friend Mia Harper Stewart during college had an affair, he is furious and beats up Stewart on the stag. He wants Stewart throw off a tall building; guests at the bachelor farewell Sullivan bring with them from trouble. After announcing Sullivan, the wedding was burst. Stewart goes after these events to Jordan Armstrong for a tryst, which never came to college times about, but argue the two.

The Arrived Robin feels betrayed when she learns of the planned tryst and wants to return immediately first. It requires Stewart that he brings to Sullivan, but to marry. The magazine Time Out London wrote that the act was powerless and those end was as unsurprising as well as corny. The cast is strong.

The lexicon of international film wrote that the film was a "small, exclusively occupied with black cast film once more " descriptive "that men and women really do not fit together, but need each other ." He tells a "somewhat one-dimensional story about love and loyalty and the importance of friendship and forgiveness ."

Awards

Terrence Howard was nominated in 2000 as Best Supporting Actor for the Independent Spirit Award. Nia Long and Malcolm D. Lee - both as a director and as a screenwriter - received the 2000 Black Reel Award. Taye Diggs and Terrence Howard were nominated for the Black Reel Award.

Nia Long, Terrence Howard and the film won Best Picture in 2000 Image Award. In addition, Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Monica Calhoun, Harold Perrineau, Melissa De Sousa and Sanaa Lathan were nominated for the same price. Terrence Howard was nominated for the 2000 Chicago Film Critics Association Award.
