The Knitters

The Knitters are an American music group from Los Angeles, the Country, Rockabilly and Folk music play.

Band History

The Knitters created in 1982 as a side project of musician Exene Cervenka (vocals), John Doe ( bass, vocals ) and DJ Bonebrake (drums ) from the punk rock band X, Dave Alvin (guitar ) by The Blasters, and The Flesh Eaters and Jonny Ray Bartel (double bass ) from the blues-rock band The Red Devils.

Their debut album Poor Little Critter on the Road was published in 1985. Besides traditionals and covers of the album contained several tracks the band X in acoustic versions. Published in 1999 Bloodshot Records, a tribute album titled Poor Little Knitter on the Road.

Then the musicians concentrated again to work with their actual bands. In 2005, twenty years after their debut, they then released their second album, The Modern Sounds of the Knitters.
