The Mysterious Cities of Gold

The Mysterious Cities of Gold (Japanese太陽の子エステバン, Taiyo no Ko Esuteban, literally " child of the sun Esteban "; French Les Mystérieuses Cités d'or ) is a French- Japanese cartoon series. It is based on the book The King's Fifth of U.S. writer Scott O'Dell. The series was very popular in France.

Action

As an infant, the orphan boy from the Navigator Esteban Mendoza was rescued from a sinking ship wreck in the Pacific. He always wears a golden amulet with him, a part of which Mendoza has taken on during his rescue. In 1532, the twelve -year-old Esteban meets in Barcelona ( Spain) on the adventurer Mendoza, who tells him about the mysterious cities of gold of the Incas. Esteban, the ability to call the sun, will be awarded, hoping to find his father in the cities of gold. Along with Mendoza and his two companions Sancho and Pedro, he sets out to search for the cities.

Inside they come across Zia and Tao. During Zia a twelve -year-old Inca girl who was kidnapped as a child by the Spaniards and, like Esteban, wearing a golden amulet, Tao is a descendant of the people of Mu, who grew up alone on a tiny Galapagos Islands. With the knowledge of his ancestors Tao Esteban and Zia often helps in tricky situations.

Publication

The series goes back to Jean and Bernard Chalopin Deyriès, both have worked together for reasons of cost already at Ulysses 31 with a Japanese bar. Chalopins film studio DIC Audiovisual therefore entered into a cooperation with the Japanese broadcaster NHK.

The animation implementation was incumbent Studio Pierrot with Hisayuki Toriumi as overall director. The music comes from the Japanese version Nobuyoshi Koshibe and that of the French, on the also based the German, by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy.

Synchronization

29 June 1982 to 7 June 1983, the Japanese Original of the 39 episodes took place at the television station NHK.

For the first time on German television was in the GDR ( later DFF ) sent Mysterious Cities of Gold in 1988. Repetitions were performed in 1991 in the DFF chain Countries (1991 ), the MDR (1993 and 1995) and in the ORB (1994). Kazé published the series from November 2002 to June 2003 in Germany on six DVDs. The Mysterious Cities of Gold (2012 )

2008, announced plans to produce a 26-part sequel. These animated by the French studio Blue Spirit series called Les Mystérieuses Cités d'or season 2 was aired on the Belgian channel La Trois from 17 November 2012 as well as from 9 December 2012 in France on TF1. The German premiere is seen December 14, 2013 Pay- TV on nicktoons Germany. In the German free-TV broadcasting the continuation from February 3, 2014 on Nickelodeon done. The airing on nicktoons and Nickelodeon ( Germany ) was canceled at short notice in Episode 16. According to information provided by Nickelodeon on Facebook, is scheduled to broadcast the series in the summer again. The series will continue to be sent on Nickelodeon Switzerland. The continuation of the third season is produced in the studios of Angoulême by blue spirit productions and should not be seen before 2015 on TF1. There are 26 episodes planned for a period of 26 minutes each.
