The Record of Tea

The Chinese book Chalu (Chinese茶 录/茶 录​​, Pinyin Chalu, " reports of tea " ') of the calligrapher and scholar officials Cai Xiang (蔡襄) ( 1012-1067 ) is a valuable document of Chinese tea culture. It was in the 12th year ( 1051 ) the Huangyou (皇 佑) era of the Emperor Renzong ( 1049-1054 ) of the Northern Song Dynasty and written in two volumes ( bian ).

Another name (zi ) of the author was Junmo (君 谟/君 谟). The author comes from Xianyou (仙游) in Fujian Province. He was an official of Jianzhou (建州) in Fujian and government official of the Fujian Province. During Qingli (庆历) era of the Emperor Renzong ( 1041-1048 ) he served as Commissioner of tea for tea Tribute and its transport.

He paved the way for the famous big and small "dragon cake " ( Daxiao longtuan大小 龙 团), ie the tea - tribute to the emperor.

According to his preface, the Jian'an (建安) tea products are not mentioned in the book named chajing (茶 经) by Lu Yu (陆羽) and Chatu (茶 图) by Ding Wei (丁 谓) 'll just picking and production discussed. His book was intended as a complement to the existing in his time tea monographs. He reported it to the many products that he met on his inspection trips to different places. The Chalu (茶 录) is next to the Beichuan Xuehai (百川 学海) also included in many other ancient book collections, including the Shuofu (说 郛) and the congshu Jicheng chubian (丛书 集成 初 编).
