The Root of All Evil (Album)

The Root of All Evil is the eighth studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, which contains re-recordings of songs from the first three albums of the band ( Black Earth, Stigmata and Burning Bridges ). It was released on 25 September 2009 by Century Media. The album is available as a jewelcase CD, Limited Edition Mediabook, digital download, and LP. This album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap by the band itself.

Formation

Although the pieces were already written, it took, according to the band some time to finish the plate. The pieces had to be selected and rehearsed to them " breathe new life ". Then it was taken in various studios in Sweden, which worked alongside drummer Daniel Erlandsson Sneap as a sound engineer.

Reception

Andreas Stappert from Rock Hard answered the question of the necessity of this re-release with " yes and no ", since the pieces of a hand in the original versions " small classic" Melodic Death Metal are. On the other hand, benefited some pieces " from the clear powerful sound, and the bit more aggression." He forgave 8.5 out of ten. Phil Freeman of allmusic.com called Angela Gossow " the best thing that ever happened to Arch Enemy ". This publication is, however, " not essential " because some songs have been interpreted on live DVDs from her. Also, the songwriting was much rougher than the newer material. The rating was three and a half stars out of five.
