The Stooges is the title of which first appeared in 1969, the debut album of American proto- punk band The Stooges.

History

The album was released in the United States on August 5, 1969 on the label Elektra Records. In the UK, The Stooges came a month later on the market. In commercial terms, the album was a failure, it peaked in the U.S. charts only ranked # 106 and failed in the UK on the charts completely. Two singles were released from the album - with the musical pieces in 1969 and I Wanna Be Your Dog, who had little more success in the charts. Even the critics, the album was panned at the time. Meanwhile, The Stooges is one of the most influential albums in the history of rock music. Especially great is its influence on the resulting mid -1970s musical style punk rock. The album came at the 2003 by the American music magazine Rolling Stone compiled list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time at # 185

Originally the band had to " Iggy Stooge " as the Stooges frontman Iggy was called Pop by band manager Danny Fields on the cover of the album, scheduled only five tracks for the album, namely I Wanna Be Your Dog, No Fun, 1969, Ann and We Will Fall. As Elektra refused, however, to release an album with such a small number of songs that the band wrote the night before the recording of the album three more songs that the first time they played together in the studio. Also on the first mix of the album the record label had some objection. Responsible for this was producer John Cale of The Velvet Underground, had taken his third album of his former band The Velvet Underground as a model. The mix, which was finally heard on the album came from Iggy Pop and the Elektra label boss Jac Holzman.
