The Suburbans - The Beat Goes On! (The Suburbans ) is an American musical film directed by Donal Lardner Ward from the year 1999.
Action
Consisting of Danny, Rory, Mitch and Gil music group The Suburbans had in the beginning of the 1980s a hit. The band plays at the wedding of Gil on which the Talentsucherin Cate is present. They persuaded the band members to the appearance in a TV show.
It turns out that the image of the musician has nothing in common with the current, bourgeois lives of men. The earlier fans no longer interested in the tape.
Reviews
Janet Maslin called the film in the New York Times of 29 October 1999 as a " funny", " fun " and " cute " " short film ". Some scenes, however, would seem well known and a little bored ( "domestic scenes drag on a bit ").
The Journal prisma wrote that the film was a " groovy satire on the music business."
Background
The film was shot in Monrovia ( California). It had its world premiere on 25 January 1999 at the Sundance Film Festival. The film was shown in the U.S. in 11 cinemas in which it grossed approximately 6 thousand dollars.
