Janet Maslin

Janet Maslin Reva ( born August 12, 1949 in New York City ) is an American film critic and journalist.

Life

Janet Maslin Reva was born as the daughter of a real estate agent and a teacher. After studying at the University of Rochester, where she received a bachelor's degree in mathematics, she began her career as a journalist with the Boston Phoenix and Rolling Stone, where she wrote music reviews. For the New York Times, she joined in 1977, where she wrote movie reviews from now on. From 1993 she took over the management of film editing by Vincent Canby. In 1999 she resigned from this function.

After her marriage to music producer Jon Landau Maslin married on 24 December 1981 author Benjamin Cheever. Currently she lives with him and their two sons in Pleasantville (New York).
