Travelers Companies is a US-based insurance company with headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. The company is listed on the stock index Dow Jones Industrial Average. The company is managed with around 32,000 employees by the President Jay Fishman (as of 2007).

History

The company was founded in 2004 by the merger of the two U.S. insurance company The St. Paul Companies and Travelers Property Corporation Casuality:

  • The company The St. Paul Companies was founded in 1853 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • The Company Travelers Property Casuality is a part of the company founded in 1864 in Hartford Travelers Companies, which was founded in 1993 initially bought by the company Primerica. As Primerica with the company for Citicorp Citigroup merged in 1998, after 2002, the division Travelers Property Casuality was separated. 2004 eventually merged Travelers Property Casuality with The St. Paul Companies.
