The Winery Dogs

The Winery Dogs is an American hard rock supergroup, founded in Brooklyn in 2011. The members of this power trio are Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan and Richie Kotzen.

History

The foundation of the band goes back originally to a project for which Portnoy and John Sykes ( Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy ) had written songs together in 2011 and for which she won Sheehan as bassist. However, Sykes was not interested, also take the material thereby formed, therefore, Portnoy and Sheehan decided to continue with another guitarist, Richie Kotzen and dedicated. After the first joint work, the musicians waived completely sure to use Sykes songs on. In spring 2012, followed by further sessions, and in July 2013 the group released their first self-titled album.

All the musicians involved were already successfully as members of other bands or as a solo artist: Portnoy was a founding member of Dream Theater, Sheehan played in the band of David Lee Roth and Mr. Big, Kotzen was having several solo albums and, as a member of Poison and Mr. Big known.
