Thomas Walsh (archbishop of Newark)

Thomas Joseph Walsh ( born December 6, 1873 in Parkers Landing, Pennsylvania, USA, † June 6, 1952 in Newark, New Jersey) was Archbishop of Newark.

Life

Thomas Joseph Walsh received on 27 January 1900, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Buffalo.

On May 10, 1918 Pope Benedict XV appointed him. Bishop of Trenton. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Giovanni Bonzano, donated to him on July 25th of that year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Denis Joseph Dougherty, and the Bishop of Newark, John Joseph O'Connor. On March 2, 1928, he was named by Pope Pius XI. Bishop of Newark. The inauguration took place on 1 May of the same year.

On December 10, 1937 Thomas Joseph Walsh, Archbishop of Newark. The inauguration took place on 27 April 1938.
