John J. McMahon (bishop)

John Joseph McMahon ( born September 27, 1875 in Hinsdale, New York, USA, † December 31, 1932 in Trenton, New Jersey) was Bishop of Trenton.

Life

John Joseph McMahon studied philosophy at St. Bonaventure 's College, Allegany and Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He received on 20 May 1900, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Buffalo. McMahon was curate in Jamestown and Buffalo.

On March 2, 1928, he was named by Pope Pius XI. Bishop of Trenton. The Bishop of Buffalo, William Turner, donated to him on 26 April of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Newark, Thomas Joseph Walsh, and the Bishop of Albany, Edmund Francis Gibbons.
