Thonville

Thonville is located a commune with 44 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region, about 34 kilometers east of Metz.

History

The village was mentioned in 1324 as Oderstorph. Then Oderstorf ( 1365 ), Otthonville (1368 ), Oderstorff ( 1387 and 1450 ), Thonuille ( 1621).

The small village has traditionally been the French language area and was occupied by France in 1552 and annexed what was recognized in the 1648 Peace of Westphalia.

1871-1918 it belonged temporarily to the German Empire, but French remained the official and vernacular.

1915-18 ( and again during the Nazi occupation 1940-44 ) Thonville received from the German authorities, the fictitious name " or village."

From 1 December 1973 to August 3, 1985 Thonville was incorporated into the neighboring Brulange.
