The mountain is a Thüster to 441 m above sea level. NN high ridge of Lower Saxony's mountain country in the districts of Hamelin- Pyrmont and Hildesheim in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Thüster mountain is located in the western part of the line mountain country, a northern part of Lower Saxony's mountain country. With its main dome, the Kanstein, it extends to about 7 km in length in the triangle of the towns Eime, Duingen and Salzhemmendorf. It lies between Hemmendorf and Oldendorf in the north, Ahrenfeld, Deilmissen and Deinsen in the east, Marie Hagen in the southeast, and Weenzen Thüste in the south, Levedagsen and the associated domain Eggersen in the West as well as the aforementioned Salzhemmendorf in the northwest.

North of the mountain Thüster extends the Osterwald, east of Külf, southeast of Duinger mountain and west of Ith. To the west and north of the ridge flows the Saale as a southwesterly flow of the leash. Its north-western part belongs to the Natural Park Weser mountain country Schaumburg -Hameln.

North leads the B 1 and B 240 on the southeast Thüster mountain pass.

Geology and landscape

The Thüster mountain is an unfolding of Thüster limestone. Are located on the steep northern flank itself, mostly hidden in the forest, several limestone cliffs, carrying, among other things, the name corner, dirt and Falkenturmstrasse and love needle. The rock balcony corner tower (380 m above sea level. NN ) protrudes slightly northwest forth below Kansteinkuppe as a natural viewing platform from the forest. On the southwest side of the ridge there are abandoned limestone quarries.

The Thüster mountain is dense forest, especially deciduous forest, passed. Major crops include among others birch and pine.

On the Kanstein, the main dome ( 441 m above sea level. NN ) of Thüster mountain, a telecommunications tower standing observation tower Lönsturm (440 m above sea level. NN ) and about 1 km east-southeast ( 433 m above sea level. NN ).

Hiking

Numerous forest roads lead over the Thüster mountain. A hiking trail leads over the crest of the ridge past the corner, Lons and telecommunications tower of Salzhemmendorf by Marie Hagen.
