Ticona

Ticona is an international manufacturer of engineering plastics and is part of the Celanese Corporation. The factory site of the company is located in the Höchst Industrial Park in Frankfurt am Main, the sub-center in Sulzbach (Taunus ) in the Main- Taunus-Kreis. By 2011 the company was resident in Kelsterbach in Groß -Gerau. Because of the construction of the new north-west runway at Frankfurt Airport had to be abandoned the old site.

General

The Kelsterbach was founded in 1961 as a joint venture of Celanese Corporation of America, and based in Frankfurt Hoechst AG. After the merger of Hoechst AG with the French pharmaceutical company Rhone- Poulenc in 1999 to Aventis (now Sanofi ), Ticona GmbH was incorporated as an independent company in Celanese.

The main business of Ticona is since the founding in 1961 of Hostaform, an acetal polymer. This is a high-performance plastic for technical applications.

With effect from 1 January 2006, the division was topaz, which produces cyclo -olefin copolymers (COC ) and sells, sold to the Japanese companies Daicel and Polyplastics and spun off into a new company Topas Advanced Polymers. Polyplastics itself is a joint venture of Daicel and Ticona.

Ticona also holds stakes in the company Fortron Industries, operate one of the largest polyphenylene sulfide production in Wilmington (USA), and PTM Engineering Plastics in Nantong (China).

With the acquisition of FACT Future Composites Technology GmbH 2010 by Celanese Ticona bundled business with long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics in the newly founded Celstran GmbH. Also in 2010, took over the Ticona product lines Zenite LCP and Thermx PCT from DuPont Performance Polymers.
