Timo Antila

Timo Antila (born 22 September 1980 in Jurva ) is a Finnish biathlete.

Timo Antila started in 1998 for the first time at the Junior World Championships in Jericho, a year later in Pokljuka and 2000 in Hochfilzen. Best Placements 2000 he reached seventh in the sprint and fourth in the relay. His debut in the Biathlon World Cup in 2000, he celebrated also at the penultimate World Cup station in Lahti. In his first race, a single, he was also 35th in the next season started Antila regularly in the World Cup. Highlight of the season was the first participation at Biathlon World Championships, where he should always take from now on. In Pokljuka he joined in single to ( 36 ) and in the pursuit of ( 43 ). With the season about the three best Finnish biathletes the last ten years, Paavo Puurunen, Vesa Hietalahti and Ville Raikkonen, he was even fifth. Shortly afterwards, he became the 27th in the individual in Salt Lake City for the first time World Cup points. The season 2001/ 02 brought back the greatest successes in Pokljuka. In individual he reached with a 17th place his second-best World Cup result so far in the pursuit he came again as 26th in the points with the season he finished fourth. Career highlight was the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Best result was a 19th place in the sprint.

Best World Cup season Antilas was the season 2003/04. Three times he came in the Top 20 in Ruhpolding he reached as Sprint- 14th his best World Cup result. In the World Cup he achieved a 50th place. End of the season was to participate in the Military World Championships in Östersund. Both the Sprint and in the patrol run he was tenth. In summer 2005, Antila also launched at the World Championships in the summer biathlon in Muonio and was eighth in the pursuit and fifth in the relay. Between 2001 /02 and 2007/ 08 Antila was placed eight times in a row overall in the World Cup. His best result at a World Cup reached the Finn 2008 in Östersund as 31 in the sprint. Timo Antila took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. His best result was the 40th place in the sprint.

Antila is the son of Finnish biathletes Erkki Antila and married to the cross-country skier Kirsi Välimaa.
