Tipuani Municipality

The municipality Tipuani is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Tipuani is one of eight Municipalities of the province Larecaja and is located in the central part of the province. It is bordered on the northwest by the municipality of Mapiri, on the west by the municipality of Sorata, and to the south and east by the municipality of Guanay.

The municipality measures in north-south direction is about 15 km in east-west direction 25 kilometers. The municipality has 30 municipalities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is the city Tipuani country with 2,563 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) in the eastern part of the county, other important towns are Chima with 1,936 inhabitants and Molleterio with 1,259 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality Tipuani located northeast of Lake Titicaca on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real.

The mean average temperature of the region is about 24 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 1400 mm (see climate chart Mapiri ). The region has no distinct temperature pattern on the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 21 ° C in June and July and 26 ° C from November to January, and the day and night temperatures have only small fluctuations. The monthly rainfall range from less than 50 mm during the months of June and July and 200 mm from December to February.

97.7 percent of the population speak Spanish, 28.8 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 15.5 percent. (2001)

37.1 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 62.8 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

63.6 percent of the 2,776 households have a radio, 48.0 percent have a television, 11.1 percent a bicycle, a motorcycle 0.9 percent, 3.3 percent, a car, a refrigerator 18.7 percent, 0.7 percent a telephone. (2001)
