Tom Hingley

Tom Hingley ( born July 9, 1965) is a British musician and songwriter from Manchester. He as a singer of Inspiral Carpets, one of the most successful bands of the Madchester era, the end of the 80er/Anfang 90s became famous.

Life

Tom Hingley was born in Abingdon in Oxfordshire. In 1984, he moved for his English degree to Manchester, where he founded in 1985 with school friends formed his first band, Too Much Texas. He was the lead singer of Inspiral Carpets, which was next to the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays the most important band of the Madchester movement in 1989. They had 17 hits in the British charts and played a four albums, all of which were placed in the UK Top 20.

After the dissolution of Tom Hingley Inspiral Carpets rose in 1995 for the band The Lovers a. They released the EP Work Rest & Play, but afterwards went their separate ways. By Tom Hingley then some solo records came on the market, Keep Britain Untidy (2000) and Soul Fire ( 2001), the EP Happiness ( 2002) and the Blue Album Thames Valley Delta Blues ( 2009).

Since 2000 he runs his own record label, Newmemorabilia Records.

Tom Hingley 2001 reformed the band The Lovers new, this time with Steve Hanley on bass, Paul Hanley on drums, Jason Brown on guitar and Kelly Wood on keyboards. Steve Hanley played from 1979 to 1998 Bass in the British cult band The Fall, just like his younger brother Paul, who was in The Fall from 1980 to 1985 the drummer. After the release of the single Yeah (2003), 2004 saw the first album of Lovers out, Abba Are The Enemy. The second album highlights appeared in March 2008.

Since 2002, the Inspiral Carpets tour successfully returned to England. So they played in 2006 and 2007 to sold-out houses. In 2007, she brought an album on the market Keep The Circle (B -Sides and udder stuff ), available only as an iTunes download. In March 2008 she went on tour again and announced a revival of their old label on.
