Tom Levorstad

Tom Levorstad ( born July 5, 1957) is a former Norwegian ski jumper.

Career

Levorstad, who started for Kråkstad IL, belonged in 1979 to the Norwegian A-National squad for the World Cup Ski Jumping newly created and already played the first competition of the contest on November 30, 1979 in Oberstdorf. He landed here while jumping on the large hill on the 57th position. In the following three jumping Four Hills Tournament 1979/80 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen, he was able to achieve any significant results. Only in the first World Cup after the tour in Thunder Bay, he could jump the first time on front seats with a 12th and a 5th place. He repeated the 5th place in the first competition in the French Saint- Nizier before he jumped for the first time with a 3rd place podium finish at the local second jump. This was also his only podium in a World Cup competition. However, afterwards he was able to repeatedly achieve rankings in the top 10. In the Ski Flying World Championships 1981 in Oberstdorf Levorstad won the bronze medal behind Jari Puikkonen from Finland and Armin Kogler from Austria. After the World Cup, the success came only rarely. Several times he dropped out after the first passage. On the other hand, he could repeatedly jump into the top 10. In the Norwegian Championship 1981 in Eidsvoll, he won the large hill behind Roger Ruud the silver medal. Despite some good top 20 finishes in the World Cup Levorstad ended after the last competition of the World Cup season 1981/82 on 7 March 1982 in Lahti its active Skispringerkarriere.
