Tomb of the Mutilated (English for grave of mutilated ) is the third studio album by the American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It is the last album with guitarist Bob Rusay.

Background

Like its two predecessors, the album in Germany has been indexed by the Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young. Thus had to be released for the German market a version on which a "neutral " Cover painting was shown. Similarly, the lyrics were not printed. The original cover showed two zombies, the male satisfies the female, reclining on a sarcophagus Zombie orally. The neutral cover shows a zombie with a knife, standing in front of a covered woman. Both pictures were drawn by Vincent Locke. The band was also playing the songs prohibited on efforts of the Saarland teacher Christa Jenal at concerts in Germany. In 2006, the ban was lifted, however.

Trivia

  • The song Hammer Smashed Face is in the movie Ace Ventura - Pet Detective to hear. The protagonist, played by Jim Carrey, attends a Cannibal Corpse concert, the band plays there this song. The original version of the scene went on for several minutes. She showed Ventura on the run from his pursuers while stage diving. In the published version of the film, however, is to see just a small sample.

Single release

The song Hammer Smashed Face was released both as a single and as an EP. In Germany, the original version has been indexed and published another version with a different cover. The single contains the title song two cover versions. On the EP version are also two songs from their debut album Eaten Back to Life and Butchered at Birth.
