Tommi Leinonen

Tommi Leinonen ( born May 14, 1987 in Kajaani ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since 2010 in Kiekko - Laser in Mestis under contract.

Career

Tommi Leinonen began his career as a hockey player 2005 Kärpät Oulu, for which he had already played in youth. In 2005 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the fourth round as a total of 125 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins, for which, however, he never played. In his rookie year was Leinonen and his team are third in the SM- liiga and reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup, in which he defeated the Russian giants Dynamo Moscow HK with Kärpät. In the following season the defender with Kärpät the first time in his career became Finnish Champion. Following this success Leinonen moved to their league rivals HPK Hämeenlinna.

In the 2009/10 season played Leinonen for Hokki in the Mestis, the Finnish second division. For the following season, he moved within the league to Kiekko laser, for which he has performed since then.

Internationally

For Finland took Leinonen at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2005, as well as the U20 World Junior Championships in 2006 and 2007 in part. At the 2006 U-20 World Cup, he won the bronze medal with Finland.
