Maid of village on the Wulka (Croatian Trajštof ) is a municipality with 1928 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013 ) in Burgenland in the district of Eisenstadt-Umgebung in Austria.

The Hungarian name of the village is Darázsfalu. The municipality belongs to the settlement area of the Burgenland Croat community.

Geography

The municipality is located in northern Burgenland on the river Wulka, near the state capital of Eisenstadt. Maid of village on the Wulka is the only place in the community.

History

Before Christ's birth, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the area of the Celtic hillfort castle on the Schwarzenbacher Castle Hill.

Later, under the Romans today maid village was then in the province of Pannonia.

The town was destroyed in 1529 and 1532 by the Turks. This was followed by a repopulation by Croats.

Maid of village on the Wulka belonged, like the rest of Burgenland until 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary). Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name Darázsfalu. After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations. The place belongs since 1921 to the newly founded State of Burgenland (see also history of Burgenland ).

In 1936, an airfield was built by the army, which was acquired in 1938 by the Wehrmacht and used until the war ended. Then the flight operations came to a halt. In 1957, the Union took Sportfliegerclub cease flying on the approved for small and gliders airfield. There were two runways with 1,100 and 800 meters in length. For this reasons the Urbarialgemeinde were leased. It hangars and a night flight facility were built, making the flight operations rose rapidly. A tower was built. Due to the noise that the lease was not renewed. So it came after years of litigation in 1994 to complete closure of the place.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In the red sign on a pedestal, which bears the date 1546, a flower pot, out of which grows a tree branch with three roses.

The coat of arms was granted on 7 May 1996.

Culture and sights

  • Townscape: maid village on the Wulka is a typical wine-growing village, whose townscape is dominated by old houses with white gable facades and taverns.
  • Parish Trausdorf: The parish church of the village maid is a 1767 built rococo building with a Marian column from 1642, and a neo-baroque high altar from 1897.
