Tribes of Caïn

Tribes of Caïn is a Swiss black metal band with distinctive death metal influences, which was founded in the Greater Zurich 1999. The band's name, a reference to the biblical Cain and his descendants ( Genesis 4:17-22, including Jubal, inventor of instrumental music, and Tubal- Cain, the inventor of metallurgy), symbolizes the fascination of the band members towards " unconventional, free, and not the dilapidated stove thinking individuals. " The spelling Caïn [ umlaut ( cf. heavy metal umlaut ) ] comes from the French language.

Tribes of Caïn is one of the most famous representatives of their genre in Switzerland and is the label Fastbeast Entertainment under contract.

Band History

The band was founded by Reto Hofstetter and Donato Campagna 1999. Shortly thereafter, Inti Sanchez was hired as drummer. In 2000, Campagna left the band to musically take a different path. The cast was completed by Chrigi Senn Hauser ( guitar) and Sven Gryspeerdt (vocals) and Dario Khasham (bass ) in the same and in the following year. It was followed by the first live performances. In 2002, two promotional CDs published.

The recordings for their first album The First Born in the fall of 2002 was followed in the spring of 2003 a tour through Germany, Belgium and Spain. The guard at the bass was occupied after the tour by Birgit Öllbrunner. Since early 2004, she starred in the Norwegian- German folk metal band Midnattsol. One year after the release of The First Born joined the band's recordings on their second album Supra Absurdum successfully. Like the previous album, the CD was produced in -house production. For various appearances as well as for filming Supra Absurdum the session musician Richard Pechota the band stood aside. The second opus was well received by magazines and webzines and received good to excellent reviews. Both albums were recorded in the Swiss National 2005.

The open position on the bass was occupied on 16 July 2004 by Kay Brem, who played until 2006 Tribes of Caïn and was active until his move to Eluveitie at Cataract. Also since the late summer of 2006 the band go and drummer Inti Sanchez separate ways. The successor for Kay Brem and Inti Sanchez came bassist and drummer Dave Dario Stutz Smurf, which was two years later replaced by Lukas von Flueh.

After the conclusion of the contract with the label Fastbeast Entertainment appeared on 1 November 2007, the third album Retaliation. The album was recorded in the band's own Artifier Studios and mixed at House of Audio ( Charles Village ). For mastering, Peter was responsible in de Betou ( Tailor Maid Production).

Texts

The lyrics deal with topics such as nature, humanity, your own thoughts and stories of suffering. They are often in English, rarely written in German language. Sometimes the lyrics take on poetic forms and have rhymes, alliteration and other literary figures of style to.
