Background

The idea for the band name had several reasons. He should be at a homage to religion - thematisierende triptychs during the Middle Ages. Occasion was Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights, which was also seen on the cover of Celtic Frost's Into the Pandemonium and Hans Memling's triptych The Last Judgement. Another reason for the choice of the band name was that this mostly three-part images on it to have a particular influence on creativity, according to Fischer. In addition, should begin with Triptykon, the last part of his music career.

Band History

Originally thought of as a side project in addition to his former band Celtic Frost, Thomas Gabriel Fischer launched together with the bassist Vanja SLAJH in the spring of 2008, the then unnamed project Triptykon. Followed initial discussions with various Death, Doom and Black Metal guitarists. When Celtic Frost broke up in April 2008, the project took on a new importance and value to fishermen gave him the name Triptykon as a tribute to the multi-part triptychs. In addition, Dark Fortress guitarist V.Santura was joined by the band, who had previously played together already at Celtic Frost as a live guitarist with fishermen. As during the trial sessions in late 2008 finally also ex- Celtic Frost drummer Reed St. Mark was come to the band, the line-up was complete; However, put this constellation Fischer and SLAJH not satisfied, so that St. Mark by drummer Norman Lonhard (ex - Fear My Thoughts ) was replaced.

After it had managed to take over the entire infrastructure, including management and booking agency of the former band Celtic Frost, the band began in August 2009 with the recording of the debut album Eparistera Daimones (, To my left, the demons '). It was released on 22 March 2010 via Century Media and contained, as had been suspected, many pieces that were once destined for the follow-up album of Celtic Frost's Monotheist. It was followed by several live concerts, such as the Roadburn Festival in April 2010, in which Triptykon played as headliners. In October 2010 the band released the EP then Shatter, on which in addition to three previously unreleased songs were also two live recordings during the Roadburn Festival. For 15 April 2014, the new album Melana Chasmata is announced.

Style

The lyrics of the band cover topics such as the occult, religious fanaticism, human disintegration and nihilism. The musical style of the band can often be comparable with that of Celtic Frost.
