Trnava (Zlín District)

Trnava ( German Trnawa, 1939-1945 Tirnau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers northeast of Slušovice and belongs to Okres Zlín.

Geography

Trnava stretches over seven kilometers along the creek Trnavka whose valley forms the boundary between the highlands and the host Vizovice One mountains. To the north rises the Drabkův vrch ( 475 m ) in the north- east, the Vápenky (552 m), Chléviska (641 m ), Na Dílech ( 635 m) and Kopřivná (625 m ) east of the Sobolice (516 m) and the Miluchov ( 506 m), in the southwest of Nad Bařinami (534 m ) and west of the Haje (509 m) and the Skalky (476 m). To the west and north, extends the natural park Hostýnské mountains, in the east of the Nature Park Vizovická Highlands. East of the village is the reservoir Všemina, southwest of the dam Slušovice.

Neighboring towns are U BACU, U Vaculů, Podkopná Lhota and Zara in the north, Dvořisko, Geržičky and Papradná in the Northeast, U Chlévů and Liptál in the east, Na Vrse and Všemina the southeast, Dešná, Neubuz and Bila Hlína in the south, Slušovice, Březova, Nové Dvory and Hrobice in the southwest and Velíková and Kašava in the West.

History

In the founding document of the monastery Smilheim of 1261 the Bach Trnava was listed but not named the village. It is therefore assumed that the village was built in the 14th century. The first written mention of Trnawa took place in 1368 in Olomouc Landtafel, as Aleš Komárov sold his goods in Trnawa and Komarov on Jarušek of Vícemilice. Later the village was connected to the rule Lukov. Other owners included, inter alia, the Nekesch Landek. At the transition from the 16th to the 17th century the number of Lutherans and Bohemian Brethren grew strongly in the rule. Lucretia of Witschkow, born Nekesch Landek, which had in 1607 inherited the reign, married in 1609 Albrecht of Wallenstein. After the abolition of patrimonial Trnava / Trnawa formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Uherský Brod. At that time there were in the village of a mill with overshot waterwheel and numerous commercial enterprises. As of 1855, the village belonged to the district Vizovice and from 1868 to the district Holešov. Until the consecration of the church own in 1911 Trnava was gepfarrt after Slušovice. In 1930 there were 73 Trnava businesses in years. Trnava in 1935 was assigned to the Zlín Region. From 1949 Trnava belonged to Okres Gottwaldov - okolí and again from 1960 to Okres Gottwaldov up in 1990 again bears the name Okres Zlín after the political changes of 1989. Between 1961 and 1969, Trnava was merged with Podkopná Lhota to a municipality Trnava - Podkopná Lhota. The present school was built on the site of a former distillery, the old school house was converted into a village hall and post office.
