Line network

Since the last enlargement in 2012, the network currently consists of four lines, two ring and two diameter lines. For the courses required are around 80 currently only 56 trolley buses available, so that it (mainly on the lines 14 and 32) comes to a regular mixed operation with diesel buses:

The line 13 was the first O bus of the current system, which recorded its operation on the route from San Ruffillo (Ponte Savena ) in the south through the city center to Borgo Panigale ( Normandia ) to the west in 1991. It was created by merging the bus lines 41 and 46 Initially, the O buses of the line of the five substations Borgo Panigale, Tofane, Avesella, Carducci and Murri were supplied with electricity, in 2005 they took Avesella due to incompatibility for urban power grid out of service. From 2004, the line was extended at the southern end of the track in San Ruffillo from the bus stop Ponte Savena to a new block loop through the Via Pavese. The route extension went with the timetable change on 13 September 2007. A further extension to Rastignano is planned.

The line 14 is the latest O bus route in Bologna. It runs from Barca in the south-west through the center to the northeast. Here the route splits in the ring road of San Vitale in the three branches due Madonna (A), Rotonda Negroni (B) and Pilastro ( C). With the electrification of the line has already been launched in 2002, but due to lack of railway underpass construction could only be continued in 2011. On 3 October 2012 stood used on the line 14 with the completion of the contact line of the A - branch of the first O bus. Due to a lack of sub-station in this area but moved between San Vitale and due Madonna with auxiliary power unit. The same is true for the B- and C- branches on which the contact line is not yet finished. The line 14 is supplied from the substations Barca, Tofane, San Isaia, Carducci and Massarenti.

History

Line network from 1940 to 1945

As of October 1940 was parallel to the tram Bologna the first O- bus system of the city. Due to extensive damage during the Second World War, the company was back in 1945 reinstated.

Line network from 1955 to 1982

The planned conversion of the tram network ( until 1963 ) led in 1955 to build a new O- bus system. The largest expansion had the trolleybus network in the 1960s to the 1970s with two ring and four radial lines, the route to Casalecchio led over the city boundary.

As in other Italian cities experienced the second O- bus network in Bologna a decline in the second half of the 1970s. The last section of the line was 42 set on 16 September 1982. The overhead lines were not completely removed, which favored the resumption of the trolleybus from 1990.

Facilities and Technology

Depots

The deposito Due Madonna is located in the northeast of the city at the terminus of the A - branch of the O- bus 14

The deposito Battindarno lies to the west of the city center between the outer branches of the lines 13 and 14

Spurbuspläne

A scheduled by the ATC with the manufacturer Irisbus bus lane on the lines 19 and 27 could not be put into operation due to defects. Several delivered articulated trolleybuses of the type Irisbus Civis did not receive regulatory approval, among other things, due to a centrally located driver's seat. Since the trial runs on a short, already completed section of Line 19 car in the depot due Madonna are turned off. The work already begun on the track bus were set with a view to the currently planned introduction of a tram in Bologna. In subsequent negotiations with the Irisbus vehicle order have been modified in a total of 49 articulated buses of the type Crealis. The lines 19 and 27 are to become regular trolleybus lines.

Catenary Voltage

Currently, the contact wire voltage in Bologna is increased from 600 to 750 volts, which is why the older vehicles and technical equipment must be upgraded gradually. The new vehicles of the type Solaris Trollino the project has already been considered in the order, so no upgrades are needed.
