Trstice

Trstice (Hungarian Nádszeg ) is a municipality in Trnavský kraj in southwestern Slovakia.

Geography

The municipality is located in the flat Danube plain in the Danube lowland situated between the rivers Danube and Small Čierna voda, 19 km from Dunajská Streda and 23 km from Galanta. Sometimes the area is also known as mat country.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1608 as Nagy Szegh after the place had recently been, in the years 1594-96, was founded. The name is said aloud Matthias Bel point out the great reed deposits around the town. In the later 17th century the town was destroyed several times by Turkish attacks and anti- Habsburg uprisings. Nevertheless, you could develop into one of the largest communities in the area.

Until 1918/1919, the community was in the county of Pressburg in the Kingdom of Hungary, after which they came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-1945 she was as a result of the First Vienna Award once again part of Hungary.
