Tschierva Hut

The Tschiervahütte (Romansh Chamanna because Tschierva ) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC ) in the Bernina group. It lies at an altitude of 2,573 m above sea level. M. in the southern flank of Piz Tschierva, above the Tschierva. The cottage was built in 1951 at this place was modernized in 2002. Here, the built in stone around the old building has been extended to an extension that is covered with larch planks.

The cabin is often used as a starting point for the ascent of Piz Bernina via the Bianco.

History

A first lodge was built in 1899 on the moraine of the Tschierva. Due to the retreat of the glacier this cabin was abandoned in 1951 and built a new cabin on the present site, which was expanded in 1969. From 2002 to 2003, the cottage has been modernized and extended and adapted to today's requirements and needs. For example, kitchen and dining room were enlarged, integrated washing facilities and toilets in the building and built a sewage treatment plant.

Boarding

The access used in almost all cases leads from Pontresina through the Val Roseg. The Hotel Roseg you leave the valley floor and first traverses the rising east side of the valley. Later, on Margun Misaun at 2'245 m, turn in a southeasterly direction from the valley of the Tschierva which you cross on its northern side. From Pontresina it takes a good three hours.
