Tuggen, facing southeast towards Lake Walen

Tuggen is a municipality at the upper end of Lake Zurich, in the district of the canton of Schwyz March in Switzerland.

History

The place Tuggen was attended by 610 of the two missionaries Columban and Gallus. But you had to flee because Gallus burned down the local pagan temple and threw the offerings into the lake. Today the community leads the Holy Gallus coat of arms. By about 1550 the Tuggenersee handed directly up to the village.

Policy

Mayor Tuggens Rolf Hinder - Bertschinger of the CVP. The other council shall be composed of three members of the FDP, CVP another member and a representative of the SP ( Release 25 April 2010).

Partnerships

Tuggen maintains since 2000 a partnership with the German town Unterharmersbach.

Economy

Largest employer is the company Tulux, which has been in the lighting industry.

Attractions

The Baroque Church of St. Ehrhard and Viktor was built in 1733 and 1734. It was consecrated in 1736, but consecrated only on August 29, 1743. A first Merovingian church was built in the same place in the 7th century. It was followed by a second church in Romanesque style around 1000 and a third in the 14th century Gothic church. In 1994, the church was renovated and rededicated the altar.

Sports clubs

Tuggen is, among other things, the home of FC Tuggen founded in 1966, who played in the National League B 1994/95, and the gymnastics club STV Tuggen.
