Turkish Basketball League
The Türkiye Basketbol Ligi (TBL ), officially Beko Basketbol Ligi (BBL ), is the top division in the Turkish Basketball. In Türkiye Ligi Basketbol Turkish Basketball Championship for Men will be played.
History
The first basketball game in Turkey was played at Robert College in Istanbul in 1904. The Galatasaray High School was the first basketball team in 1911. Another basketball team was founded in 1913 by Fenerbahçe Ülker. A first unofficial Basketball League was founded in 1927 in Istanbul. The Basketball Championships were held in 1946 by basketball teams from Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
The Turkish Basketball League was founded on 13 December 1969 by the Turkish Basketball Federation. Since the 2006 season, the electronics manufacturer Beko is title sponsor of the Turkish Basketball League.
