Tyrolean Unterland

As the Tyrolean lowlands is the part of the federal state of Tyrol east of Innsbruck, excluding East Tyrol, respectively.

At Concept and definition

Not to be confused is the Tyrolean lowlands to the Tyrolean Inn Valley, which although located in the same area, but just for the Inn Valley, and to the south of South Tyrol.

In addition to the lowlands there is also the Tyrolean Oberland, which is located west of Innsbruck. Innsbruck itself is sometimes credited to the Lower Inn Valley, usually it is called separately. The median Inn Valley to Innsbruck is therefore also frequently as Innsbruck Land, rare Tyrolean Central Plateau.

A further distinction can be made according to linguistic criteria: The linguistic staining with the " sh " - sound ( " Tirol isch lei oans " ) have mainly dialects west of the Zillertal on. Based on this, actually include living in the Lower Inn Valley Tyrol's not necessarily for the Tyrolean lowlands, because they are linguistically differ just by this südbairische " sh " of the Bavarian dialects that are found east of the Ziller Valley. In the districts of Kufstein and Kitzbühel a medium of Bavarian dialect rather than a südbairischer spoken.

The self- perception of the local population differs from the term. An example of Schwaz, near Innsbruck, feels natural as " Tyrolean ", or more precisely as " the Lower Inn Valley " - but not as Lowlands. Tracking a Schwaz to Kufstein, which is "in the country," while he himself lives the feeling to somewhere between Innsbruck and lowlands. Also Zillertal do not feel like Lowlands.
