Uche Okechukwu

Uche Okechukwu ( born September 27, 1967 in Lagos) is a Nigerian football player and was several times the jersey of his home country. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1994 in the USA and at the Football World Cup in France in 1998, where he led as captain of his team. 1994 won Okechukwu with the national team, the African Cup and 1996 Olympic Games.

Club career

1987 Okechuwu began his career with the Flash Flamingoes. From 1988-1990 he kicked for Iwuanyanwu Nationale. His talent did not stay unnoticed: He hired in 1990 at Brøndby IF on. During his time in Denmark, he was able to convince completely, so that the Turkish top club Fenerbahce became aware of him and took him under contract.

In Fenerbahce became Okechuwu a crowd favorite. He and the Danish international Jes Høgh formed the central defense at Fenerbahce. Okechuwu played a total of eight and a half years at Fenerbahce and denied it 224 league games for the club, in which he was able to achieve 19 goals.

For the 2002/2003 season Okechuwu joined Istanbulspor because he was only a reserve player at Fenerbahce. In Istanbulspor he was four seasons active. He rose with the club from the second division and missed in the 2005/2006 season in the play-offs against Sakaryaspor just the resurgence.
