Umberto Bindi

Umberto Bindi ( born May 12, 1932 in Bogliasco; † 24 May 2002, Rome ) was an Italian singer-songwriter ( Cantautore ).

Biography

Bindi was born on 12 May 1932 in Bogliasco in the Italian province of Genoa. His first song, " T'ho perduto " he compose in 1950. His first published song was " Arrivederci " to Ricordi in 1959. The song was popularized by Marino Barreto Jr., and one of the best selling singles of 1959 in Italy. In the 1960s, Bindi belonged to Bruno Lauzi, Luigi Tenco, Gino Paoli and Fabrizio de André the best known of the so-called " Genoese singer-songwriter school" ( " cantautori genovesi " ) - young Genoese, who wrote poetic texts with the French cabaret singer and singing. Bindi's first LP " Umberto Bindi e le sue canzoni " was published in 1960.

Bindi wrote a number of well-known songs: "Il Nostro Concerto" (1960), "Riviera" (1961 ) and especially " Il Mio Mondo " (1963), in 1964 by the British pop singer Cilla Black as " You're My World " was sung.
