The University of Pretoria ( Afrikaans: Universiteit van Pretoria, English: University of Pretoria ), short- UP or Tuks, is a mixed -language state university in the South African city of Pretoria. History

The University of Pretoria was founded in 1908 as an offshoot of the Johannesburg Transvaal Univerversity College ( TUC ) with four professors, three lecturers and thirty-two students.
