The Cape Peninsula University of Technology CPUT short, is a technical University of Cape Town in South Africa's Western Cape province.

The University went ahead two colleges, the Cape Technical College, founded in 1920, and the Peninsula Technical College, founded in 1962 for coloreds. 1967, the campus of the Peninsula Technical College was moved from the center of Cape Town to Bellville. 1979 received both institutions the status of a technical university. In the following years grew both universities, in 2005 they were joined by a four-year process under the name Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Organization

The CPUT is headed by a Vice- Chancellor, for management are in addition three deputy vice-chancellor, a dean, a CFO and the audit officer. The Registrar shall be representative and symbolic tasks. The line is the University responsible, which sets the guidelines and is responsible for financial planning and academic affairs.

The CPUT consists of six faculties:

  • Faculty of Economics
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Design and computer science
  • Faculty of Health Sciences
  • Faculty of Education and Social Science
  • Faculty of Applied Science.

The faculties are divided into departments. In addition, the CPUT Short Courses offers in three centers, there certificates can be purchased in a part -time study. In addition to the campus areas of Cape Town and Bellville there is the Campus Mowbray, Granger Bay and Wellington.
