The USS Green Bay (LPD - 20) is an Amphibious Transport Dock of the United States Navy and is part of the San Antonio - class. It is named after the city of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

History

LPD -20 was commissioned in 2000 and designed in 2003 at Avondale Shipyard in Kiel. After three years, the ship was launched. Godmother was Mrs. Rose Magnus, wife of Robert Magnus, Assistant Commandant of the the Marine Corps. The transfer to the Navy took place on 29 August 2008, the Green Bay was placed on January 24 in Long Beach as the fourth ship of her class in service and stationed in San Diego.

In February 2011, the Green Bay moved to the side of the USS Boxer ( LHD -4) in the Indian Ocean, where she took part in exercises with friendly navies.
