Vandelans

Vandelans is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Vandelans situated at an altitude of 235 m above sea level, 8 km southeast of Rioz and about 20 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department in the wide valley of Ognon between the wooded heights of the Bois du Fays in the south and Bois de Bellevaux in the north.

The area of ​​3.08 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the middle Ognon Valley. The southern boundary runs mostly along the Ognon. This here flows with large meanders through an alluvial plain, which has a width of one to two kilometers and is on average 230 m. From the river, the municipality's area extends north across the valley to the adjacent plateau. This consists of limestone of the Upper Jurassic time. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. With 272 m is reached on a hill north of the village is the highest elevation of Vandelans.

History

In the Middle Ages Vandelans belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. A noble family which bore the name of the village is mentioned in the 13th century. Together with the Franche -Comté Vandelans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Vandelans is a member of the 28 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays Riolais.

Attractions

The old town is characterized by various houses from the 16th to the 18th century, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône.

Population

With 112 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Vandelans one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 50 and 80 people, a continuous population growth was recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure
