Hyet

Hyet is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Hyet situated at an altitude of 295 m above sea level, 6 km north of Rioz and about 17 km south of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village road extends to the south of the department, in a valley west of the basin of the upper Quenoche, between the heights of the Grand Bois de Mailley in the west and the Bois Lajus in the east.

The area of ​​6.47 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the south and Ognon Saône in the northwest. The eastern part of the territory occupied by the valley of Hyet. It opens to the east the basin of Quenoche. To the west, the hilly terrain gradually rises to the heights of Bois des Rêpes on which 417 m is the highest point of Hyet is achieved, and the Grand Bois de Mailley ( to 405 m). It shows a loose structure of arable, meadow and pasture and forest. In geological terms, the highs consist of a alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly layers of the upper Jurassic period, while come to light layers of the middle Jurassic period in the Bois des Rêpes and the Grand Bois de Mailley. Topographical Hyet belongs to the catchment area of the upper Quenoche, but there is no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. In the area there are several karst phenomena, including two Gouffres ( caves ), namely, the Creux de la Violette and the Creux- Sureau.

To Hyet the development La Maison- Neuve part (270 m) on the main road N57 in the Valley of Quenoche. Neighboring communities of Hyet are Mailley -et- Chazelot and Pennesières in the north, Quenoche to the east, La Malachère and Rioz in the south and Trésilley and Fondremand in the West.

History

A burial ground from the Merovingian time points to an early settlement of the area. In the Middle Ages Hyet belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government of the village held the barony Fondremand. Together with the Franche -Comté Hyet came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Hyet is a member of the 28 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays Riolais.

Population

With 100 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Hyet one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1906 143 people were still counted ), only relatively small variations were recorded in the last decades.

Economy and infrastructure

Hyet was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Meanwhile, the site has also changed into a residential community. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the main road N57, which runs from Besancon to Vesoul. Further road links exist with Fondremand Quenoche.
