Varsity Show is an American musical film released in 1937. It was produced by Louis F. Edelman, Hal B. Wallis and Jack L. Warner directed by William Keighley at Warner Bros.. The script for the black and white film wrote Jerry Wald, Richard Macaulay, Sig Herzig and Warren Duff. The U.S. premiere took place on 4 September 1937.

Action

The Quadrangle Club at Winfield College raises money and hires the Broadway producer Chuck Daly to organize the annual Uniaufführung. Daly, a former student at Winfield College, is after an unsuccessful year in financial difficulties and therefore accepts the offer. However, the actually responsible for the event, Professor Sylvester Biddle does not want to give up his post and tried to hinder the students in their planning. When this did not succeed, he convinced the university administration from the fact that the organization of the show will not be awarded to Daly. The students occupy but for those already planned show a disused Broadway Theatre, where the show is a success.

Awards

Busby Berkeley in 1938 was nominated to the dance finals in Varsity Show for an Oscar in the category Best Dance Director.
