Vasili Altfater

Vasily Mikhailovich Altfater (Russian Василий Михайлович Альтфатер; * 4 Dezemberjul / December 16 1883greg in Warsaw. . † April 20, 1919 in Moscow) was a Russian rear admiral and commander in chief of the naval fleet of the RSFSR.

Life

In the period of the Red Terror, he was a witness in the trial of Admiral Shchastny, the organizer of the Eismarsches of the Baltic Fleet, statements. Altfater but did not attend the court hearing.

He was a member of the Revolutionary Military Council and of 12 October 1918 to the April 20, 1919 Supreme Commander of the Naval Forces of the RSFSR.

Altfater died of a heart attack and was buried on April 24, 1919 at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.

Honors

On the grave Altfaters a monument by the sculptor SD Merkurow was erected. A destroyer of the Caspian Naval Flotilla (1922-1945) and gunboats of the Don- Azov Flotilla (1920-1921) and the war fleet of Astrakhan Krajs were named after him.
