Vatra Dornei
Vatra Dornei (Hungarian Dornavátra, German Dorna Watra ) is a town with almost 17,000 inhabitants located in Suceava County in the north- eastern Romania. The town lies at the mouth of the Dorna in the Golden Bistrita in the northern part of the Eastern Carpathians.
Vatra Dornei is a spa and ski resort, who was known as a spa resort in the 19th century, but is unable to repeat to the former splendor today. The casino of this period is a ruin today. The spa park still exists. There are three ski lifts. In the surroundings of the almost completely surrounded by mountains resort hikers will find a number of delightful walking routes.
About 5 km east of the village of the remarkable monastery Acuperămăntul Maicii Domnului situated on the river Bistrita.
