Vavřinec (Blansko District)

Vavrinec ( German Laurenz, also Wawrzinec ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north-east of Blansko and belongs to Okres Blansko.

Geography

Vavrinec is located on the right side above the arroyo Pustý žleb the Punkevní in the Moravian Karst. South-west rises the Podvrší (590 m ). To the west lies the deserted village Podolí.

Neighboring towns are Němčice in the north, Sloupsko Šošůvka in the northeast, and Holštejn Lipovec in the east, Ostrov u Macochy the southeast, Suchdol in the south, Veselice in the southwest, and Ráječko Karolín in the west and Petro Vice and Zdar in the northwest.

History

The first beginnings of the colonization of the area around Blansko and Rájec occurred in the first half of the 12th century by the diocese of Olomouc. 1245 the new bishop Bruno of Castle ran a systematic colonization of the episcopal possessions and took about 25,000 German settlers from the overpopulated Saxony time to Moravia. After 1260 was the construction of the castle Blansek as the seat of episcopal lords. The first written mention of the Good Petro Vice associated village was in 1378 of the land board in connection with the sale of Petro Vice including associated Huben in Vavrinec and Podolí by Unka of Majetín to Eliska of Rohatce and Vitek of Rohrbach. The surrounding villages Neradice, Bezděčice and Podolí extinguished again later. 1396 pledged Bishop Nicholas of Riesenburg the Blansky goods to Erhart of Kunštát and Skal. After the abolition of patrimonial Vavrinec was formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Boskowitz. 1948 Vavrinec was assigned to the Okres Blansko. With the beginning of 1961 was the annexation of Veselice ( with Mala Veselice ) and Suchdol ( with Nové Dvory ). The district has a Vavrinec Katastralfläche of 296.6 ha In the census of 1991, the district consisted of 132 houses and had 391 inhabitants.
