The Vectus traffic mbH ( Vectus, from Latin vehere = go ) is a transport company based in Limburg an der Lahn. She took over the 2004 Regional traffic on a route network that covers the Lahn Valley, in the Westerwald and the Taunus and Westerwald is called Taunus network. Operational focus of the network is Limburg.

Foundation

The Vectus was founded on 23 July 2003. Its shareholders are the Hessian Bahn GmbH (HLB ) with 74.9 % and the Westerwaldbahn GmbH with 25.1% of the shares. Both partners had as a grouping on 14 November 2002 against numerous competitors - including DB Regio - get the contract for a roughly 218 km long railway network in the states of Hesse and Rhineland -Palatinate, for a period of ten years. The traffic contract was signed on 10 January 2003 with the clients purpose association of passenger transport between Rheinland- Pfalz Nord ( Northern regional rail ) and Rhine- Main Transport Association ( RMV). The SPNV North acted here for track parts which are in the south of North Rhine -Westphalia. Vectus took over the operation of the timetable change in December 2004, with 28 new vehicles and around 70 employees.

Limburg ( Lahn) - Weilburg - Wetzlar - Gießen in part, on behalf of the Hessian State Railway

In node Limburg consists of the Vectus trains connecting to trains of Deutsche Bahn; it operates the Main -Lahn -Bahn to Frankfurt / Main and regional express trains on the Lahn Valley Railway. There is also a train station Limburg ( Lahn) with buses connecting to the ICE railway station Limburg Süd. Connection to the ICE network also exists in Montabaur station on the railway line Limburg Relay Siershahn (sub Westerwaldbahn ) and in Wiesbaden.

Rolling stock

Vectus provides a total of 2.4 million train - kilometers per year, for 10 railcars of the type Alstom Coradia LINT 27 and 18 railcars of the type Alstom Coradia LINT 41 used. All vehicles were built in 2004 and are identical to the series 640 and 648 of the DB. After delivery of the first vehicles drove some in the summer of 2004 on the track Limburg -Wiesbaden and other routes.

Planned Resolution

In October 2012, the Hessian State Railway was awarded the contract for the future operation of the Westerwald network, which is still operated until the end of the ten-year contract in 2014 from the Vectus.
