Velešovice

Velešovice ( German Welspitz, 1940-45 Walspitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers north-west of Slavkov and belongs to Okres Vyškov.

Geography

Velešovice is located on the left bank of the stream Rakovec in the western foothills of the Litenčická pahorkatina at the transition to Wischau Gate and the Thaya Schwarza valley floor. To the east rise the fairytales Hills, in southeastern Urban ( 360 m) and the Stara hora (299 m) and south of the Cikán (287 m). North of Velešovice runs the D 1/E462 motorway, take the next exit 210 is Holubice. Beyond the motorway is the railway line from Brno to Přerov. The station Velešovice located one kilometer north- west of the village in an open field. To the south runs the state road I/50/E50 of Holubice after Slavkov.

Neighboring towns are Vítovice and Královopolské Vážany in the north, Slavíkovice, Rousínovec and Kroužek in the northeast, Krouzecky Dvůr and Dražovice in the east, Němčany and Slavkov in the southeast, Vážany nad Litavou and Křenovice in the south, Prace and Blažovice the southwest, U nádrazí and Holubice in the west and Stara Posta, Sivice and Pozořice in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds indicate a prehistoric settlement in the area since the Neolithic period. The first written mention of the village took place in 1131st owner of four Huben was the Brno Peter Church. Until 1306, the Welspitzer church tithe was paid to the parish Slapanitz, then it flowed the Olomouc scholasterie to. In the first half of the 14th century belonged to the rule Welspitz Wildenberg. In 1371, the Půta the Younger brothers Šacler and Jan Wildenberg sold its stake in Castle Wildenberg including Welspitz sold to Margrave Johann Heinrich. His son, Jobst of Moravia sold the village Welspitz and the mill in 1406 to the Brno Kollegiatskapitel. Subsequently, the village was connected to the Kritschen rule and remained until the mid-19th century the reign Kritschen - Petersberg, including Propsteigut St. Peter 's servants, and the operation an estate in Welspitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Velešovice / Welspitz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Wischau. 1891, the village school was established. Between 1949 and 1960 Velešovice was part of Okres Austerlitz and came back to his resolution to Okres Vyškov. 1964 Velešovice was combined with Holubice to a community Velešovice - Holubice. This broke up in 1990 again. Gepfarrt is the village after Slavkov.
