Venancio Ramos

Venancio Ramos ( born June 20, 1959 in Artigas ) is a former Uruguayan football player.

Playing career

Club career

The striker, nicknamed chicharra began his career in his homeland with Peñarol Montevideo. There he was involved between 1977 and 1983 at several championship titles. So he could in that time a total of four Uruguayan league titles (1978, 1979, 1981, 1982) and his team win. In addition, with Peñarol in 1982 he succeeded in both winning the Copa Libertadores and the World Cup. In 1984 he moved to Europe for RC Lens. After 18 goals in 72 games for the French club he returned two years later returned to South America and hired for one season at the Argentine club Independiente. Then he made his way back to his homeland, where he next stations at Racing, Defensor Sporting and El Tanque Sisley for Nacional Montevideo, the second big club Montevideo and archrival his home club Peñarol played.

National

Ramos took the Uruguayan U-20 national team the title at the U-20 South American Championship soccer in 1977 and finished with the team at the Junior World Cup in 1977 to fourth place. A trainer

With the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2006 Ramos served as coach of the second-placed Uruguayan national team. In the following years, he held that function at the tournaments in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
