Venezuela national football team

The Venezuelan national football team represents the Venezuelan Football Federation, the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol ( FVF ), which was established in its current form until 1951. 1925 was the first national football federation, the Federación Nacional de Fútbol was founded, but had no permanent stock. In the years 1932-1938 it was followed by the League Venezolana, which was replaced in 1938 by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol. Only the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol but received the recognition of FIFA and Venezuelan Olympic Committee in November 1951.

The national team, known as "La Vinotinto " ("The Red Wine " ), was indulged in little or no success until a few years ago. Football was played practically only at universities. More important sports in Venezuela are baseball and basketball.

History

Venezuela is the only CONMEBOL member who has never played in a World Cup. Venezuela first participated in the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in 1966 and finished up to and including the qualifiers for 1998 is always the last group space. 2002, 2006 and 2010 passed it already slightly better placement.
