Víctor Selvino Arenhart

Víctor Selvino Arenhart, also Arenhardt, (born 23 December 1948 in Campo Grande, † 17 May 2010 Caraguatay in the department of Monte Carlo ) was an Argentine priest and bishop of Oberá.

Life

Víctor Selvino Arenhart, the son of German immigrants, studied from 1970 to 1972 philosophy at the seminary of Paraná and 1973-1976 theology at the seminary in Córdoba. He received on 5 March 1977, the ordination. He was vicar of St. Anthony in Oberá and later parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima in Monte Carlo, the capital of the department of Monte Carlo. From February 1980 to June 1981 he was again pastor of St. Anthony in Oberá. From June 1981 to April 1985 he held the office of the rector of the diocesan seminary of Posadas, then turn pastor at St. Anthony in Oberá to February 1997. Since 1985, he was also active as a chaplain in the prisons of the province of Misiones. Since February 1997, he was pastor of the Cathedral of San Jose in Posadas.

In 1998, Víctor Arenhart was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Posadas. In 2000 he was until the appointment of Juan Rubén Martinez Bishop of Posadas diocesan administrator. In 2001 he was again appointed the Vicar General, also Director of the clergy.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 13 June 2009 for the first bishop of the diocese Oberá. He received his episcopal consecration on August 15, 2009 Archbishop Adriano Bernardini, Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina; Co-consecrators were the bishop of his home diocese Posadas, Juan Ruben Martinez, and the Archbishop of Resistencia and former Bishop of Posadas, Carmelo Juan Giaquinta.
